right now, you can not use VoIP calling services on AT&T's 3G network on an iPhone. However, you can use Truphone to make these calls on a Nokia handset on 3G (and Android) because Nokia hasn't locked out the functionality.

All Hail Steve Jobs.

AT&T has said they're going to be VoIP friendly in a press release, but not details or implementation has come of it, yet.

I downloaded this app for the iPhone. It looks like they're trying to combine multiple services into one app; WiFi calling, Twitter, IM, etc. This app looks okay but seems to be in line with others such as Fring.

My question is when will we be able to use the voice portions of these apps over the 3G network instead of only via WiFi. I thought I heard something regarding a court case with the FCC, AT&T and Skype, but I haven't followed up.
