Nokia N78 was said to be the budget N96. I have been using the Nokia N78 for half a year. I bought it because I like its design inspired by Nokia N81 and the keypad is special. Nokia N78 was said to be the budget N96.Now the D-Pad is worn out. But that's ok. I am still very satisfied with this phone. It's very fast, and the camera is a great snapper though it's only 3.2 mp resolution. Only one thing is a little bit annoying –when I hold this phone the shaky back panel keeps telling me it is going to crack.

While I am not using Truphone, I am following this thread with great interest because I am trying to obtain a native S60 SIP Client for some phones such as the 6121 Classic.

IMHO, Nokia will soon pay dearly for removing SIP calling from the consumers who bought S60 phones thinking that they can use the SIP Client - only to end up with a SIP stack - and the employees in Nokia will kiss goodbye to the good old days.

Another great perspective.

Some more info on Nokia conversations at http://conversations.nokia.com/home/2008/12/nokia-blew-it-big-time-with-voip.html

I do think Nokia blew it on this one. N96 app should be enabled/reinstated.

A fake Nokia Chinese fake and more on The 1100 Club and VoIP (BONUS: S60 and Ovi events, too)...

ESPOO, Finland - First we had real phones available in real shops spurning real fakes. Then real phones that weren't available, being faked. Now we have phones that aren't even real being faked. Go figure. I found out via Unwired...

Great sleuthing (I wrote about it on our site).

I think Nokia could have been a bit more proactive to manage this with developers. But that's water under the bridge.

Good thing is that this issue is just a blip in the road, since the subsequent devices (N85 and N79) are fine (as far as I was told).

Now that I think of it, there's no excuse for a dev platform to act like the 1970s. We know more and do more.

Oh well.
